The Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) is pleased to announce a second round of immunisation scholarships in 2024. The scholarships aim to upskill eligible nurses to increase the uptake of COVID-19 vaccinations among priority vulnerable populations.
The immunisation scholarships support the Government’s COVID-19 response aiming to increase access to the COVID-19 vaccination among vulnerable populations who cannot access or have difficulty accessing the vaccine through existing processes.
The scholarships are intended for primary healthcare providers working within the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network region who are:
- Registered Nurses
- Enrolled Nurses allowed to administer medicines
- Aboriginal Health Practitioners
In 2023 the PHN successfully rolled out 77 immunisation scholarships bolstering the PHN catchment’s vaccination provider capacity. The current round is offering 100 scholarships to undertake the HESA accredited course Understanding Vaccines and the National Immunisation Program, to be delivered by the South Australian Health Department’s Centre for Education and Training.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) opened on 15th July 2024 and will remain open until all scholarships are allocated.
