There are so many ways to stay active or enjoy an outdoor adventure in and around our beautiful town. You’ll find team sports galore, with comps running every night of the week and all weekend, including hockey, rugby league and union, netball, cricket, football, touch football, AFL and tennis. Contact the Inverell Visitor Information Centre for more options and club contact details. Below are a few ideas to get you out and about and on your way to meeting new friends!
Walk, run or cycle
Enjoy over 17km of shared cycling/walking trails, including Lake Inverell Walking Track (a gentle 4km wander from the CBD to tranquil Lake Inverell) and the WWII Remembrance Riverwalk (5km pathway meandering along the Macintyre River and through lovely public spaces).

Lake Inverell Reserve
Peaceful aquatic sanctuary close to town and home to a large variety of waterbirds, wallabies and platypus. Popular for picnics, kayaking and walking tracks connecting to Barayamal National Park. BBQ, picnic tables, toilets.
Lake Inverell Drive, Inverell
At three times the capacity of Sydney Harbour and with the longest recreational boat ramp in the Southern Hemisphere, Copeton Dam is a wonder to behold! A recently completed $5.7mil upgrade to the Northern Foreshores have made it the perfect spot for day trips or longer stays. The dam is ideal for powerboating, waterskiing and wakeboarding, kayaking, swimming and is paradise for fishing enthusiasts, especially those chasing the metre plus Murray Cod. Drive across the dam wall for sweeping views over the lake and mountains. Boat hire, kiosk, BBQs, toilets and shower facilities, camping and cabins available.
Every Saturday at 8am join the loyal starters at Campbell Park for a 5km leisurely walk or run.
