Cardiff Family Practice is looking for a medical receptionist for Thursdays and Fridays This practice is family friendly, with fantastic nurses and support staff to help our doctors and patients.


Cardiff Family Practice is looking for a casual medical receptionist. The role is for Thurdays and Fridays withan ability to cover when other staff require annual leave or a day off . This practice is family friendly, with a fantastic nurse and support staff to help our doctors and patients. The person for this role must be a team player have commitment, strong dedication, enthusiasm, great communication skills, a team player and ensuring customer service is to the highest standard.

Job Requirements:

  1. Experience with Best Practice software or similar medical software is preferred, but not necessary . The candidate with experience working with medical software, particularly Best Practice or similar systems would be preferred but not necessary.
  2. Strong IT skills: Proficiency in office software programs and an ability to attend to emails
  3. Professional communication: The receptionist is expected to answer telephone calls courteously and professionally, as well as communicate effectively with patients, their families, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  4. Appointment scheduling: The receptionist will be responsible for making appointments, including doctors and nursing appointments, using the medical software.
  5. Team player: The candidate should be a team player and be capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
  6. Fluent in English: Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.
  7. Flexibility: The job may require working on a variety of shifts, weekdays only. The candidate should be flexible and able to cover for sick leave and annual leave for others.
  8. Willingness to learn and strong work ethic: The receptionist should be open to learning, reliable, and possess a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities:

  1. Using medical software (Best Practice) for tasks like appointment scheduling, billing, and patient management.
  2. Basic triage and isolation of patients when necessary. (Training can be provided)
  3. Maintaining knowledge of the waiting room and ensuring patients are comfortable.
  4. Ensuring compliance with policies, and accreditation requirements.
  5. Providing a high standard of customer service, including compassionate and professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  6. Working between the hours of 8am to 5.30pm, two days to three days a week.

Wages will be discussed during interview following the Fairwork Australia Health Professionals and Support Services Award.
