Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) is a serious public health issue, contributing more to the burden of disease for women aged 18 – 44 years than smoking, alcohol misuse and obesity. Studies show that women are twice as likely to disclose DFV if asked by their GP or nurse in the general practice.
