RACGP Voluntary Assisted Dying (Part 1)
NSW Health is carefully planning for the implementation of voluntary assisted dying to ensure it is safe, accessible and aligns with the legislation. We are also working with other states to learn from their experience.
In the coming months we will be working closely with specialists, communities and organisations to develop new resources supporting patients, their families and clinicians. Consultation will help us gain a better understanding of different needs and perspectives across NSW, ensuring that all communities are supported.
General Practitioners will need to understand their obligations and responsibilities under the VAD legislation and consider how they will support their patients to access VAD when it becomes available. NSW Health will be providing regular updates as we progress this work and this is the first in a series of webinars with General Practice.
