GP CLUB : GUT HEALTH

You're invited to GP Club, where colleagues come together for an engaging and collaborative experience. Join us for insightful sessions, mentoring opportunities, and the chance to forge new connections. Dinner will be provided, along with exciting lucky door prizes to cap off the night. We'd be thrilled to have you join us!

SPEAKERS:

Dr Damon Shorter is a general paediatrician who discovered the Central Coast when he interned at Gosford Hospital in 2003. He moved here permanently in 2010. He is a Senior Staff Specialist Paediatrician at Gosford Hospital, runs private rooms in East Gosford, and is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer with the University of Newcastle. He has been a paediatrician at Yerin Aboriginal Medical Service in Wyong since 2011. Damon has a special interest in acute paediatrics and education, is an active course director for Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) Australasia and a Paediatric National Examiner for the RACP. You might see Damon chasing his children around in the surf or playing basketball with his long-term team "DOA". He lives in North Avoca with his wine cellar, two children, and haematologist wife Alison Lyons.

Dr David Gilbert completed his medical training at the University of Otago in 1998 and obtained his fellowship in Gastroenterology in Sydney in 2006. He then pursued further training in Advanced Endoscopy and Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Edinburgh. Since 2009, he has worked as a consultant Gastroenterologist on the Central Coast, with appointments at multiple hospitals and private practices. He is actively involved in clinical research, teaching, and mentoring, and enjoys sports and spending time with family and friends outside of work.

Veronica Vogel APD is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over 13 years experience in private practice at Erina. She is the owner of Nutrition Fix offering general nutrition support and recently started Veronica Vogel Nutrition focusing on nutrition for women in perimenopause and menopause to support healthy ageing. She has a special interest in gut health, women’s hormones and how what we eat affects our genes having completed training in nutrigenetics. Veronica also has a Master of Health Policy from Sydney University and sat on the Central Coast Primary Health Network Clinical Council for the past 9 years representing allied health professionals in local primary health issues, and is on the Primary Health Network’s Education Committee (with Dr Georgia Page). Outside of work she enjoys yoga and the outdoors with her cocker spaniel.

GP FACILITATOR:

Dr Georgia Page - MBBS (USyd), FRACGP, BScience (Biomedical), Diploma of Child Health. Dr Georgia Page is a GP at Your Family Doctors at Erina on the Central Coast. Georgia has a special interest in medical education and has been involved in the training and supervision of GP Registrars for over 10 years. She is passionate about increasing the number of high-quality GP's on the Central Coast.
