Medical Receptionist / Medical Practice Assistant

Medical receptionist role has become available for extra shifts to cover leave during the week and Saturday clinic s as we expand and launch upstairs

This is a customer service role which would suit a warm and welcoming person who can build a good rapport with both patients and colleagues alike. The need to be professional and compassionate go hand in hand, as well as always being mindful of the need for complete patient confidentiality. As a small team, we work closely together. So excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills are a must.

The Practice is open to patients from 8.00-5.30pm Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday shifts available.

Duties include, but are not limited to;

  • Welcoming patients on arrival and departure in a friendly and caring manner
  • Attending to incoming phone calls, faxes, and emails
  • Appointment booking, rescheduling, cancelling, and billing, through Best Practice software or Tyro
  • Scanning, filing, incoming and outgoing post, and data entry
  • Opening and/or closing the clinic
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders (Doctors, Hospitals, and other health care professionals).

Must-have Requirements:

  • Demonstrated computer experience using Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High-level attention to detail
  • Be able to work as part of a team and independently always maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Per current Public Health Orders, all employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Current CPR training. Up to date training will be provided through the practice
  • Medical administration or business course completed
  • Triage for General Practice training
  • Processing of Medicare claims, both Online and Easy Claiming
  • Processing of patient accounts using TYRO or similar.
  • Experience as a receptionist in a general practice setting or similar (we use Best Practice)
  • Sound understanding of the MBS
