Primary health care support and services have increased by a value of more than $45 million, from 2015 to 2022, to rural and remote areas of the Hunter and New England regions of NSW, due to the actions of Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network since its inception in 2015.
Flood Recovery, Community Wellbeing and Resilience Grants of between $5,000 and $50,000 have been provided to NGOs and community groups to deliver projects promoting mental wellbeing and resilience.

Over the last few years communities across the Hunter New England and Central Coast region have experienced challenging times as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the impacts from natural disasters such as major flood events.
As a result of COVID-19 control measures, flu cases remained at historically low levels in 2021. With the easing of these public health measures there is likely to be a resurgence of flu this winter, potentially co-circulating with COVID-19.
