Health literacy improved due to the successful Rural Communities Project.
In 2019, the Primary Health Network (PHN) undertook a health needs assessment in Glen Innes and Tenterfield as part of its Rural Communities Project.

The PHN has published the following report summarising the key budget initiatives affecting primary care health providers across the Hunter, New England and Central Coast regions.
The 2023 May Budget Impact Assessment offers a detailed summary of the relevant initiatives, incentives and support included for general practices and other primary care providers.
The report also describes opportunities for improved care in other areas of health including aged care, nursing and midwifery, digital health, immunisation and the primary care workforce.
