Medications for Chronic Kidney Disease

Health professionals, do you know how to adjust kidney cleared medications for an individual with CKD?

Find out how by joining Kidney Health Australia and Senior Pharmacist, Carla Scuderi. Using a case study example of an individual with diabetes, this activity outlines the steps required to confirm a CKD diagnosis as well as guidance on what medicines slow the progression of CKD while reducing the risk CVD. Practical tips on how to utilise the eGFR to adjust medication dosing will also be discussed.

HNECC PHN Selected to pilot the new model of trauma-informed care, supporting victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence.

The Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) is one of six PHNs that have been selected to pilot a new model of trauma-informed care to support victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence commencing in 2024.

National HIV Nursing | Complex Management Webinar

Directed at nurses with experience working in HIV, this webinar will focus on HIV and hepatitis B and C co-infection.

Kirsty Owen (Sexual health and BBV nurse, Melbourne Sexual Health Centre) will discuss the nurses’ role in monitoring and caring for people living with HIV and hepatitis B and C co-infection, including identifying risk factors and key consideration for treatment and monitoring. This session will include a presentation and case studies.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Describe the epidemiology of Hepatitis B and C and risk factors for acquisition.

• Identify risk factors for advanced liver disease and when to seek specialist clinical support.

• Discuss key considerations for Hepatitis treatment and monitoring in PLHIV.

• Explain role of the HIV nurse in supporting engagement in Hepatitis treatment and ongoing monitoring.

In this event we will explore a variety of evidence-based strategies from the emerging disciplines of Lifestyle Medicine and Positive Psychology for enhancing mental health and wellbeing. Applications in clinical settings through short interventions will also be explored.

The presentation will also showcase a unique mental wellbeing program, called The Lift Project, which is being offered for free to all primary care providers (GPs, ACCHS, Aged Care and NDIS providers, Allied Health providers, Pharmacists and Dental clinicians).
