Tackling Stigma Conference - Call for Abstracts, Scholarship Applications and Registrations

Tackling Stigma Conference will focus on cross cutting approaches to understanding and addressing stigma, promote conversations and debate regarding systemic and structural issues that contribute to experiences of stigma in health care settings, and discuss novel strategies to overcome stigma as a barrier to health care. Along with international and domestic keynote speakers, concurrent presentation sessions, a speed networking event, and an evening function, the conference will have a panel discussion that will include people with lived experience and cover a range of issues which address intersectional stigma and how that impacts health care access and uptake. The Call for Abstracts, Scholarship Applications, and Registration for the Tackling Stigma Conference are now open.

End of Life Care Coordination Service

The PHN has recently partnered with BaptistCare to introduce an End-of-Life Care Coordination Service for residents in the Newcastle LGA.

The service is designed to support people with a non-malignant life limiting illness, ensuring they receive personalised care during this stage of life.

This presentation will offer an overview of the service, covering key details such as commencement dates, referral criteria, and pathways for referrals.

NSW/ACT Sexual Health Fundamentals for Nurses and Midwives

Through a case study, a presentation, interactive quizzes and an online learning module, this online workshop will provide nurses and midwives with the introductory skills to incorporate STI and BBV screening within their workplace. This workshop is comprised of a mandatory online learning module, followed by an interactive live session.

CONVERGE: Management of the multimorbid T2D patient

The CONVERGE educational meeting will be presented by Prof Sham Acharya, Director of Endocrinology and Diabetes JHH and Prof Bobby Chacko Director of Nephrology JHH. It has been developed to reinforce your knowledge of managing cardio-renal-metabolic conditions in patients with T2D. Deep Dive into Dyspareunia: a multidisciplinary workshop on sexual pain

Following on from 6 years of running the successful two-day course: “Let’s Talk About Sex: Sexuality and Sexual Difficulties”, we at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash University have developed a one-day live, online course on managing sexual pain. In this course we have the opportunity to dive deeper into the breadth and complexities of helping people who are experiencing painful sex.

ACT/NSW Prescribing PrEP – including Injectable PrEP

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, more commonly known as PrEP, prevents HIV infection if and when someone is exposed to the virus. As of June 2022, almost 60,000 people have accessed PrEP at least once and worldwide data shows falling rates of new HIV infections where PrEP coverage is good in high-risk populations. This course will inform you about PrEP and the dosing schedule for oral and injectable PrEP.
