Extension of General Practice MBS Equivalent reimbursement for COVID vaccination of non-Medicare eligible people

The PHN is pleased to advise ongoing support of activities improving access to COVID-19 vaccinations for priority populations until the end of 2024.

General Practice providers who Covid vaccinate non-Medicare eligible patients (non-Medicare card holders) may submit the associated invoice to the PHN for reimbursement.

The patient does not have to pay for their Covid vaccination.

All client details must be entered into the Australian Immunisation Register, regardless of Medicare eligibility.

Invoices need to state the details of the patient, details of the practice, date of service, and the service(s) provided, including that the patient who received the service is a non-Medicare card holder. Please note that the PHN can only reimburse item numbers directly associated with the Covid vaccination, and up to a maximum amount of the standard MBS items for Covid vaccination.

Please send the invoices to: accounts@thephn.com.au with attention to Ellen Senft, Manager Disaster and Emergency Coordination: esenft@thephn.com.au

This process is valid until the 31 December 2024 (prospective end of current funding period) and reimbursements after that date are not guaranteed.
