Seasons Greetings from the PHN - Christmas closures and accessing healthcare during the holidays.

Christmas Closures

Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network will close at 4.30pm Friday, 22 December 2023 and re-open 8.30am Tuesday, 2 January 2024 for the holidays.

On behalf of the Board, Executive and staff, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday. Thank you for your contribution throughout this year to improving the health of our communities across the Hunter, New England and Central Coast region.

Accessing healthcare during the holidays

Finding a GP

Contact your local practice to check if your usual GP is available or if they offer an alternative suggestion for medical care.

You can visit the healthdirect service finder to locate a GP. Health Direct provides 24/7 health information, advice, and referral for all Australians no matter where they live and when they need help.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs)

Urgent Care Clinics are located within our region and will be open over the holiday period:

UCCs provide short term, episodic care for urgent (not life-threatening emergency) conditions for people of all ages. They are equipped to provide medical care for minor fractures, sprains, minor infections, respiratory illnesses, mild burns, severe stomach pains, or urinary tract infections.

They take bookings but walk in appointments are also available.

Crisis support

For some people, Christmas and the holiday season can be a challenging time. If you require crisis support, please contact any of the 24/7 crisis support helplines

Emergency

Triple zero (000) is the number to call for ambulance, police, or fire services in an emergency. Only call triple zero (000) if the situation is serious and urgent.
