Addiction Seminars: NSW Alcohol Interlock Program & Fitness to Drive Medical Assessments

Join us as we discuss the NSW Alcohol Interlock Program & Fitness to Drive Medical Assessments.

Prof Kate Conigrave (Senior staff specialist, SLHD Drug Health Services & University of Sydney) will discuss the key aspects of the NSW Alcohol Interlock Program and the involvement of GPs and other health professionals in this drink driving offender program.

Following this, Dr Craig Sadler (Director Alcohol and Drug Unit/Withdrawal Services at the Calvary Mater Hospital in Newcastle), will provide a brief overview and discussion on medical assessmentS for fitness to drive and what role that medical professionals have in this program.

OTAC Clinical Case Webinars: Common Clinical Challenges in Providing Opioid Agonist Treatment

Join the OTAC Clinical Case Webinar series, with the upcoming session examining common clinical challenges around the provision of opioid agonist treatment (OAT).

Leading the discussion will be Prof Paul Haber, Head of Specialty of Addiction Medicine, University of Sydney & Clinical Director of Sydney Local Health District Drug Health Services. Participants are encouraged to either submit their own cases or to discuss presented cases on the evening.

These webinars aim to provide a continuing learning environment to discuss clinical matters related to prescribing methadone or buprenorphine pharmacotherapies for opioid dependence. The webinars will be recorded and be made available on the OTAC website (www.otac.org.au) alongside relevant resources related to the topic. Whilst primarily aimed towards prescribers of OAT, we welcome other health professionals, including those in nursing and pharmacy, to join us in the conversation.
