NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Conference

The NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Conference offers a valuable opportunity for NSW healthcare workers and community members interested to learn how voluntary assisted dying will be implemented in NSW. The conference will be held at the ICC Sydney on Friday 29 September 2023.

Attendees will hear from NSW Health’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Implementation Team and experts from other states across Australia who provide voluntary assisted dying services.

The conference will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

Demystifying Dementia – Part 1

This workshop will offer a practical and stepwise approach to improving your knowledge, skills and confidence in recognising, diagnosing, and managing dementia in primary care. CPD education points are available for GPs attending.

Topics will include:

• stages and domains approach to recognising and diagnosing dementia

• inclusion and exclusion criteria

• the role of cognitive assessment tools

• brain health (via the 45 – 49 Health Assessment)

• a practical approach to support GPs in diagnosing dementia.

• the dementia trajectory and post diagnostic care

• resources to support your work with people living with dementia such as GP management plans and HealthPathways

When a Disaster Affects Your Practice: Part 2 – Flood & Infectious Diseases

In the last few years, the Hunter New England and Central Coast regions have been affected by various disasters, including floods, bushfires, drought, the Covid-19 pandemic and a rodent plague. For providers, disaster preparedness is a vital step to reduce vulnerability, to minimize risk and to increase their business and workforce resilience.

This virtual winter trilogy event will be held over three education sessions. During each event we will present two example hazard desktop scenarios and the relevant business continuity measures for optimal preparedness. This session will be addressing Flood & Infectious Diseases.
