Extreme weather events are on the rise and as we move into a new fireseason, the trauma of the Black Summer bushfires is still fresh for many. Floods, drought and the pandemic have brought extra challenges to community.

Policy Announcement - update on requirements to prescribe the Schedule 8 psychostimulant medicines dexamfetamine, lisdexamfetamine and methylphenidate

The NSW Ministry of Health has updated the requirements to prescribe Schedule 8 psychostimulant medicines (dexamfetamine, lisdexamfetamine and methylphenidate). These changes recognise the scope of practice and expertise of psychiatrists, paediatricians and neurologists and are intended to reduce burden on patients, carers and families.

Cancer conversation: Voluntary assisted dying - responding to a change in legislation

The final cancer conversation webinar for the year has a focus on the voluntary assisted dying legislation in NSW, which will come into effect from 28 November 2023.

The aim of the webinar is to help clinicians understand and prepare for the changes. Cancer conversations is an after-hours online forum for health professionals discussing topics of interest related to cancer treatment and care.
