Medicating Normal - The Film (Reconnexion and NPS Medicinewise)

Reconnexion and NPS Medicinewise are delighted to co-host the Australian premiere of Medicating Normal, a documentary that follows five individuals who were prescribed medications to help with their mental health, but which instead had a devastating impact on their lives.

Immediately after the virtual screening there will be an interactive community discussion with our panel: Dr Hester Wilson, Dr Caroline West, James Szeto, Natalie Corrigan, Dr Killian Ashe, and Dr David Jacka.

Doherty and NCIRS course in vaccinology and immunisation science

Free introductory module: A primer in vaccines and immunisation Date: 17 November 2021 Time: 7 pm - 10 pm AEDT This practical online course is for people relatively new to the area of immunisation and for those wanting to broaden and update their understanding of vaccines, vaccine development and the principles underpinning the introduction and running of immunisation programs. This includes, but is not limited to, practitioners, academics and researchers, such as primary healthcare and specialist doctors, community and immunisation nurses, those working in public health, government (all levels) and health policy, pharmaceutical industry, regulators, aged care workers, journalists and ethics committee members.

Launch of Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Development Guidelines

The Guidelines are primarily intended to inform decision makers, including employers and funding bodies and to support change across the mental health sector by improving understanding of the benefits of the Lived Experience workforce and by supporting employers to assess their local readiness and prioritise activities that support successful implementation.

The Guidelines and their companion documents are aimed at building understanding and providing guidance on how the Lived Experience workforce can be grown and supported at the local level.

IBD GP Aware webinar: summary IBD guidelines and education

We will be presenting details about some of the key IBD guidelines available for GPs, a new IBD summary guideline and the training to be released in the coming months. The webinar is free-of-charge but registration is essential.

IBD GP Aware stems from a priority area identified in the Federal Government’s IBD National Action Plan to support GPs to more effectively participate in IBD management through awareness and a suite of education resources and continuing professional development.

GP Aware is led by Crohn’s & Colitis Australia with consortium partners the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and the Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL). The project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health.

Living with COVID in Hunter New England: Escalation, Medication and Technology

As we reach target COVID-19 vaccination rates the majority of COVID-19 positive people will be managed in the community and won’t require hospitalisation. This webinar will continue the discussion regarding management of COVID-19 positive patients in Hunter New England as we transition into the ‘living with COVID’ phase of the pandemic across the region.
