Hepatitis C Testing & Treatment in General Practice

This session aims to increase GP awareness and confidence identifying patients for hepatitis C testing and treatment.

Learning outcomes:

- Identify people for testing, including both priority and undertested population groups and how to initiate conversations

- Be aware how to easily test, treat and manage people living with hepatitis C in general practice

- Identify when/how to prescribe hepatitis C treatment and when to refer for specialist care

- Be aware of available tools to support and increase confidence when initiating testing, treating, and managing people living with hepatitis C in general practice.

Statewide Paediatric Diabetes Forum

The NSW Ministry of Health is currently seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from General Practitioners (GPs) to participate in the State-wide Paediatric Diabetes Forum. Interest for further involvement in the model of care development will be sought at the forum.

Primary roles of the GP representatives attending the State-wide Paediatric Diabetes Forum will include:

• Provide a voice and represent interests of GPs

• Raise considerations for the State-wide Paediatric Diabetes model and associated resourcing in terms of GP practices and processes to support the development and implementation of a state-wide model of care

• Advocacy of Paediatric Diabetes Care

Remuneration for GP representation at the State-wide Paediatric Diabetes Forum is available.

Expert Insights: Exposure Therapy in Childhood Anxiety Disorders

Exposure therapy is a core component of treatment in childhood anxiety disorders. However, research findings suggest that most clinicians in the real-world (not part of research clinics) do not use it in treatment. This podcasts addresses the efficacy of exposure therapy in children with anxiety disorders and the barriers to implementation in everyday clinical practice. Moreover, the panel will also introduce strategies for effective delivery of this gold standard treatment to children, families, and schools.

Responding to Domestic & Family Violence: a Practice Nurse Perspective

An informative and practical session on the Practice Nurses role in how to Recognise, Respond, Refer and Record Domestic and Family Violence in General Practice. The training program aims to support and build upon nurse’s skills in:

• Active listening and responding to disclosures of domestic family violence, with a live patient simulation

• Patient risk assessment and safety planning

• Training on the Domestic Family Violence Primary Care Action Plan

• Introduction to the new dedicated primary care domestic family violence specialist, for patient and clinician support.

2022 Adult Immunisation Forum

This one-day, online event continues to build on the aims:

• To better understand the burden of vaccine preventable diseases in adults

• To build an awareness of the challenges and strategies for improved vaccination in adults

• To hear the latest developments in vaccine programs for adults

• To consider ways of improving knowledge about immunisation best practice

This event will be of particular interest to health professionals, immunisation specialists, policy makers and anyone else working on the front line of public health.
