Polypharmacy, adjusting doses, drug burden index

For the last of the Multimorbidity Webinar series, Dr Justin Coleman (General Practitioner, Inala Indigenous Health Service) will talk about “Polypharmacy, adjusting doses, drug burden index” in the context of multimorbidity with Emeritus Professor Mieke van Driel (General Practice Clinical Unit, The University of Queensland) to chair the discussions. According to a survey conducted by In Vivo Academy among its GP members, the most common challenges they face when managing patient with multimorbidity are prioritising treatment, drug interactions associated with polypharmacy and patient adherence to treatment. Chronic Conditions of the Foot

The Chronic Conditions of the Foot aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to recognise general foot conditions, determine foot care requirements, and prepare and use basic equipment and medications for this people not requiring services of a professional podiatrist in a range of residential and community service contexts.

The face to face workshop includes a lecture and practical workshop activities around recognition of foot conditions, assessment, application of foot assessments tools and understanding the principles of basic foot care.

The Chronic Conditions and Nutrition program aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to interpret and use basic information about nutritional principles and healthy diet.

The program aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to interpret and use basic information about nutritional principles and healthy diet, using Eat For Health (new Australian Dietary Guidelines). The program provides foundation knowledge on energy needs, basic food groups, identifying good food choices, special diet groups, obesity, client interactions for BMI management and introduces the student to the concept of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foods which is an emerging evidence base.

Psychosis in Children

Please join us for an interactive session on Psychosis in Children for GPs to help identify and support and diagnose Psychosis in their child and adolescent patients and support their families.

Family distress will be addressed as well looking at framework for assessment and identifying factors contributing to compounding and predisposing conditions. This event is held in conjunction with CCLHD and specifically aimed at Central Coast GP’s. Q and A will be available at the end of the session .

In this webinar, hosted by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about our Lived Experience model and how to engage with the right community members when developing your own initiatives, as we celebrate the launch of our new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Portal.

Our speakers will share their own lived experience insights, stories of success, overcoming barriers and what enabled their own thriving. We will also speak about advocacy in the field and working for the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be heard and included in planning for suicide prevention and other mental health initiatives.
