WORKSHOP: Pivoting to the perpetrator: How to engage with patients who use domestic violence

Introduction workshop: 27th July 2022 7.00-8.30pm AEST; Advanced Workshop: 29th October 2022 7:00-8:30pm AEST

This workshop series is for GPs and other primary care providers to enhance your knowledge and confidence to safely engage with people who use domestic and family violence. A panel of experts will discuss how to identify when violence is occurring and how to sensitively ask and respond to disclosures and encourage your patients to seek help appropriately.

GPs can attain 3 CPD points for attending either session (Intro or Advanced). OR 40 CPD points has been applied for GPs attending both Part 1 and 2 sessions (3 hours) plus pre and post activity (1-2 hours).

METADiAB: The Sydney Practical Diabetes Forum at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Diabetes Centre

The METADiAB Forum is RACGP accredited and designed to provide GPs with a comprehensive update on diabetes management. It aims to improve patient outcomes by supporting GPs to individualise diabetes management when escalating therapy beyond metformin. Attendees of the Forum will gain practical insights into the latest thinking and guidance in the management of diabetes and metabolic health. The emphasis will be on real-world issues and changes that can be implemented in your clinical practice the following week. The Forum will be interactive, case-based, and with ample time for discussion and questions. It is free to attend for General Practitioners and it has been accredited by the RACGP for 12 CPD points. The impact of Covid 19 on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB community

The Queeroboree bi-monthly webinar series produced by Black Rainbow, in partnership with the Mental Health Professionals’ Network aims to help practitioners better support the mental health and social and emotional wellbeing needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB community. By unpacking the findings from research conducted by Black Rainbow, the presenters will discuss this community’s unique needs, highlighting ways to improve service delivery and access. Attend to learn about the importance of applying person-centred approaches in your practice.

Session aim: Discuss the impact of Covid 19 on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB community and how to strengthen the mental health and social and emotional well-being literacy of services and increase access.

Discuss findings from Black Rainbow Research on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people and the Covid 19 pandemic.

Identify how the findings from Black Rainbow research highlights the mental health and social and emotional well-being needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people including types of support that practitioners can provide.

Identify how to improve service access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQA+SB people.

As multi-morbidity continues to be prevalent in general practice settings and within patient presentations, it is important to consider ways in which multiple conditions can be treated through surgical intervention.This talk will discuss surgical interventions which may support treatment pathways for patients experiencing comorbidities associated with colorectal and obesity conditions.
