$100,000 Scholarship for Cervical Screening Provided to Hunter New England General Practices.

Forty-five rural and remote general practices across the Hunter New England region will receive a scholarship to complete the Well Women’s Screening Scholarships Project through Family Planning, thanks to $100,000 in funding from the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN).

Palliative Care General Practitioner Breakfast: Facing the Future

Dr Catherine Palmqvist will be discussing the challenges and hindrances GPs face currently and how to address them into the future. This presentation will look at our ageing population and the complex diseases within this patient group, considering how GPs being better engaged in the palliative care space can address this. There will be a specific focus on opioid prescribing for patients at end-of-life, as well as broader discussion about the inspirations and aspirations for the future GP workforce.

No Scaredy Cats™ for Child & Family Specialists

The No Scaredy Cats™ course is based on three underlying perspectives: first, by having an understanding of how anxiety develops, community and family support workers can assist parents to counter its progress in children. Second, community and family support workers can assist parents to take a preventative role in the development of anxiety problems in 2-12-year-olds. Third, there are practical steps parents can take to develop resilience thinking skills in 2-12-year-olds.
