The Department of Health and Aged Care has released a consultation document(link is external) for the development of the National Health and Climate Strategy. This document is designed to protect the health and wellbeing of Australians from the impacts of climate change.
The consultation will consist of a presentation on the Strategy, followed by a Q and A with consumers, and then you will have the opportunity to help guide CHF's submission by providing us with your thoughts.
A collaborative pilot project investigating a new model of care in residential aged care facilities (RACFs) is providing valuable insights into innovative ways to improve health care for residents.
In 2022, the PHN developed its 2022-2025 Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy. The strategy is critical to delivering the PHN’s community, workforce and cultural objectives and aligns to the PHN’s strategic purpose of “keeping people well in our communities through innovation, performance, collaboration and local engagement.”
With COVID-19 creating social isolation and increasing pressure on the social and emotional wellbeing of health professionals, a need was identified to provide support to retain staff within commissioned services and build stronger relationships with and between service providers.
In June 2023, the PHN launched an early intervention pilot program for General Practices to participate in a frailty screening program using the FRAIL Scale, a validated screening tool.
Among the many health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the disruption of access to healthcare was significant for many patients, particularly those with chronic conditions. In recognition of this, the PHN launched the Allied Health Reconnection Grants in March 2023 seeking to enhance opportunities for clinicians to work together in a multidisciplinary patient-centred approach.
