Front-line workers in NSP settings have a crucial and unique role to play in eliminating hep C. Every day, you’re talking to people who might be living with hep C. By sharing messages about testing and treatment, you can support people to protect their health.  

This free training aims to provide participants with the confidence to initiate conversations around hep C in the needle and syringe program (NSP) setting and provide referrals to testing and treatment.  

The course will be delivered in two parts:  

Part 1 consists of a 1-hour eLearning component introducing the learner to the topics of testing, management and treatment of HCV in addition to how to provide education in the NSP setting. 

Part 2 consists of an interactive online workshop building on the knowledge and skills gained in Part 1 through practical case discussions and referral pathway mapping.  Presenters: To be announced.

ASHM is pleased to provide this new course that dives deep into core elements of a nurse and midwife’s scope of practice relating to hepatitis B. This course will provide nursing and midwifery professionals with in-depth, practical and person-centered hepatitis B care information, and will focus on a different topic each session. Our topic for this course is perinatal and infant prevention and care of hepatitis B. The course will discuss hepatitis B prevention, diagnosis, management and care from pregnancy to birth and infancy.

Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with existing or potential examples/cases they may have encountered with managing pregnancy, births or infants affected by hepatitis B, as there will be an opportunity to discuss, and problem-solve with other healthcare professionals attending the course.
