“We have had a wonderful experience with ‘Attract, Connect, Stay’. Being from Sydney and not knowing anyone was a challenge but Karen helped us immensely with housing, meeting new people, and activities to do in town. We would highly recommend using the service because it gives eye and ears on the ground for people moving to Glen Innes and makes the process of moving easy and welcoming. The social events organised by Karen have helped us integrate into the town and provided an opportunity to make connections and build new friendships. “

“I've been visiting Glen Innes over the last 10 years and finally made the move from city to country in 2020 to be with my partner, a local generational farmer. I have since embraced the community, culture, and charm of the country town and endeavour to become a new and true local.

I began working with Rural Fit as an Exercise physiologist due to their passion in rural health and improving health outcomes of rural communities through innovation and action. Rural Fit have established clinics across the New England Region and NSW; however, we have recently opened a clinic in Glen Innes! Attract, Connect, Stay has provided a platform (through face-to-face meetings, email bulletins, and social media) to discuss community needs and concerns; promote networking; and provide me professional and personal support. This community group/service is not available in the surrounding towns in which I work.

Karen has worked fantastically as the Health Workforce Recruiter Connector to be the contact for new and existing health professionals. She has a directory of all things Glen Innes - she knows the ins and outs of all available health services, new clinicians, and where to grab the best lunch. ACS and Karen have assisted me in overcoming the hurdles of establishing a new exercise physiology clinic in town, while being new myself.”
