On behalf of Narrabri Shire Council, I welcome you to our diverse and thriving community. Narrabri Shire is conveniently located halfway between Brisbane and Sydney. It is two and a half hours from the Queensland border and is well serviced by road, rail, and air. The Shire’s largest town of Narrabri is positioned on the crossroads of the Newell and Kamilaroi Highways.

Narrabri is a bustling hub for business, shopping, sports, and entertainment. The town boasts outstanding natural beauty, with the Namoi River flowing through the town centre and residents enjoying spectacular views of the Nandewar Ranges. Narrabri is located amidst stunning natural and rural scenery and is known for its fertile agricultural land in the North-West Slopes and Plains.

Maitland Street, the busy main street of Narrabri, caters to all tastes, offering a newly refreshed shopping environment. Residents are spoiled for choice with a wide range of shopping and services available, including major national retailers, family-owned stores, and tempting eateries. The main street is home to many dining options, from cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, and take-away shops, serving delicious coffee and gourmet meals. With a growing influx of service-based stores, the town is taking advantage of the growth of the local economy.

Wee Waa, known as Australia's Cotton Capital and the birthplace of modern cotton industry, boasts a richly fertile area for agricultural pursuits and a quality way of life. However, the town has much more to offer beyond cotton. Its busy and beautifully landscaped main street features unique boutique shops to cater to all tastes, making it a delightful destination. As the oldest town in the Namoi Valley, Wee Waa is steeped in history and offers many historic sites and points of interest to explore.

Boggabri, known as "The little town with the big heart," is experiencing a period of rapid growth and development. This vibrant community with a rich heritage offers a warm and friendly environment for both residents and visitors. The town's strong business community is emerging to support and capitalise on the industries driving this growth.

A range of outdoor festivals are celebrated throughout the year. There are a wide range of social, cultural, and sporting events to keep people of all ages and tastes entertained. Narrabri Shire residents are never bored with the number of activities available for the whole family.
