Digital Health
Last updated July 5, 2022
The PHN is dedicated to helping service providers across the Hunter New England and Central Coast region to understand and make meaningful use of digital health initiatives.
The use of Digital Health can help improve the healthcare system for providers and help people live healthier lives, with greater control and better access to important health information.
Here you will be able to find resources and information that will assist your service in the implementation of these initiatives, alongside the development and integration of quality improvement activities to support your digital health needs.
SeNT eReferral System
SeNT eReferral allows General Practitioners to send secure electronic referrals to both public and consenting private specialists, commissioned services and allied health providers.

Telehealth
Telehealth enables health providers to see patients remotely where it is clinically appropriate to do so. It is convenient for consumers who can access services more easily and in a timely manner. It is also particularly helpful for patients with mobility issues as well as people in remote areas.

My Health Record
An initiative of the federal government, My Health Record is a secure online summary of an individual’s health information and is available to all Australians. Health care professionals authorised by their health care organisation can access My Health Record to view and add patient health information.

How can your organisation implement Digital Health?
The PHN supports commissioned services in Continuous quality improvement (CQI). It is a system of regularly reviewing and refining processes to improve them over time. As a result of an effective CQI system, you should improve:
- the quality of care your patients receive;
- their health outcomes, and
- your business efficiency
